Strengthening
Organic Enforcement

How does it affect you?

The USDA published the Strengthening Organic Enforcement (SOE) Final Rule on January 18, 2023. This is the largest update to the USDA National Organic Program’s regulations since the original Organic Foods Production Act of 1990. Importers, brokers, traders, and retailers of organic products may be affected. We’re developing resources for businesses like yours to understand the SOE regulations and how to ensure compliance. Check out our informational SOE webinar! Leslie Touzeau, Organic Policy Manager, breaks down the essentials of the final rule, including who must be certified organic, who qualifies for exemptions, and what recordkeeping is required for exempt operations. Looking for more details? Visit our FAQ and External Resources pages under the Resources tab to explore everything about Strengthening Organic Enforcement.
