Across the globe, consumers are willing to pay top dollar for the assurance that their products are produced in accordance with strict organic standards. In addition to protecting the environment, organic certification can translate to significant financial benefit for your business. So, what does organic mean? Organic agriculture is based on holistic production management systems which promote and enhance:
Organic agriculture emphasizes the use of management practices in preference to the use of off-farm inputs, taking into account that conditions require locally adapted systems. These goals are met, where possible, through the use of cultural, biological, and mechanical methods, as opposed to using synthetic materials, to fulfill specific functions within the system. There are additional certifications that let consumers know that your company follows other standards such as Regenerative Organic Certified®, Organic Plus Trust Grass-Fed, Bird Friendly, GLOBAL GAP, and more.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates that foodborne illness cost $15.6 billion each year. Food safety is a priority for all involved in the food supply chain domestically and globally. Stakeholders have developed responses and tools to prevent food contamination. These tools include the private accredited voluntary standards recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) through their benchmarking process and government regulations. QCS offers a number of GLOBAL G.A.P. certifications as well as the FDA-Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP).
You can access free webinars and podcasts created by Florida Organic Growers at their Food Safety for Farmers website.
